Where can I find an English-speaking dermatologist in Seoul?
At The Heal Dermatology Clinic Dongdaemun, one minute from Cheongnyangni Station. Dr. Byoungyong Koh consults in English himself; enquiries are answered in English on WhatsApp +82 10-8110-3469.
What is the best clinic for Ultherapy in Korea?
Choose a clinic where a board-certified dermatologist performs Ultherapy on a genuine Ultherapy Prime with authenticated transducers and real-time imaging, at a published price per shot. The Heal Dongdaemun meets all four; Dr. Koh teaches Ultherapy hands-on seminars with Ulthera. ₩550,000 per 100 shots.
Where can I get fractional CO2 laser treatment in Seoul?
At The Heal Dermatology Clinic Dongdaemun on the Lumenis UltraPulse Alpha, performed by Dr. Byoungyong Koh, UltraPulse Advisory Board member. ₩1,800,000 per business-card-sized area, mild protocol from ₩800,000, before VAT.
Are the doctors at The Heal Dermatology all dermatologists?
Yes. All four physicians are board-certified dermatologists (피부과 전문의), a qualification held by roughly 2% of doctors in Korea.
Do I need to speak Korean to visit The Heal Dermatology in Seoul?
No. Your consultation is one to one with a board-certified dermatologist, and Dr. Koh consults in English himself. English enquiries are answered on WhatsApp; Japanese on LINE and Chinese on WeChat; a professional interpreter can be arranged for other languages.
Can I be treated on the day I arrive?
For most lifting, booster and injectable treatments, yes, after consultation and a Meta-Vu scan. Scar and melasma programmes and tattoo removal are staged over months.
Does The Heal Dermatology publish prices?
Yes. The price list is in Korean won; cosmetic treatment carries 10% VAT. Shot counts and volumes are confirmed at consultation.
Is there a tax refund for foreign patients in Korea?
No. Korea's medical tax refund scheme for foreign patients has ended.
Where is The Heal Dermatology Clinic?
2F, Hillstate Cheongnyangni The First, 6 Wangsan-ro 36-gil, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul; one minute from Exit 6 of Cheongnyangni Station (Line 1, Suin-Bundang, Gyeongui-Jungang, Gyeongchun, KTX).
I have never had an aesthetic treatment. Will I be pressured to buy something?
No. The clinic's promise is no excessive treatment. The consultation is with the dermatologist, not a sales coordinator, and patients regularly leave with one treatment or none. Several Google reviews from first-time visitors say exactly that.
What happens at the first visit, step by step?
Reception, then a 3D Meta-Vu and Mark-Vu skin scan, then a private one-to-one consultation with the dermatologist who reviews the scan with you in English and proposes a plan with prices. If you agree, most treatments are done the same day in a private room; you leave with aftercare instructions and a WhatsApp contact for follow-up.
How do I pay, and is there a deposit?
Pay at the clinic after treatment by overseas credit card or cash; no deposit is required for a consultation. Prices are in Korean won and cosmetic treatment carries 10% VAT, which is stated on the quote.
Can I bring a friend or partner into the consultation?
Yes. Consultation rooms are private and the clinic has two-person treatment rooms for friends visiting together.
What should I avoid before treatment?
Avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids and sun exposure for a few days before laser treatment, and alcohol and blood-thinning supplements for 24 hours before injections. The clinic sends a short pre-visit note on WhatsApp once you book.
What if I have a problem after I fly home?
Message the clinic on WhatsApp with a photo; the dermatologist who treated you reviews it. For anything urgent you should also see a doctor locally. Treatment records in English are provided on request.
Anti-Aging & Lifting
Anti-Aging & Lifting
Ultherapy Prime, Thermage FLX, Sofwave, Xerf, ONDA and thread lifting, designed from a 3D Meta-Vu scan of your own face.
I have never had a lifting treatment. Where do I start?
With a consultation and a 3D Meta-Vu scan, not with a device. The dermatologist shows you on screen where your face has lost volume and where the skin has loosened, then explains which single treatment, if any, would change what you see. Many first-time patients leave with one treatment, not a package.
Does lifting hurt, and will I look different the next day?
Numbing cream is applied for 20 to 30 minutes first. Ultrasound treatments feel like brief deep heat; radiofrequency feels like warm pulses. Most patients go to dinner the same evening with no visible sign of treatment. Any mild redness is gone within hours.
How long before I see a result, and how long does it last?
Some tightening is visible early, but the main result builds as new collagen forms over two to three months. One treatment typically holds for a year or more, after which it is repeated as the face requires.
Can I do it on the day of my consultation?
Yes for Ultherapy, Thermage, Sofwave, Xerf and ONDA. Allow about two hours including the scan, numbing and treatment.
What does it cost?
Prices are published on this site in Korean won and depend on the shot count, which is decided from the scan. Ultherapy Prime starts at ₩450,000 per 100 shots and Thermage FLX at ₩1,450,000 per 300 shots. Cosmetic treatment carries 10% VAT.
Bio-stimulators
Bio-stimulators
Rejuran, Re2O, Juvelook, GOURI, Radiesse, Sculptra, AestheFill and Ellansé: boosters and collagen stimulators selected and combined by zone.
What is a skin booster, in plain terms?
A series of tiny injections just under the skin that improve its quality: hydration, smoothness, firmness, pores. It is not a filler, so it does not change your shape; it changes how the skin itself looks and feels.
Which booster is right for me?
That is decided by zone from the Mark-Vu skin analysis, not by brand. Thin, dehydrated skin needs a repair booster such as Rejuran; pores and texture need a collagen stimulator such as Juvelook; deflated areas need a volume stimulator such as Sculptra. Many plans use two products in different zones.
Will people be able to tell I had something done?
Small bumps at the injection points are visible for one to three days and are easily covered with makeup. There is no change in your features.
How many sessions do I need?
Hydrating boosters: three sessions a month apart, then maintenance twice a year. Collagen stimulators: two to three sessions, with the result building over two to three months. A single session still gives a visible improvement.
Is the product genuine?
Yes. The clinic uses only authenticated original vials and shows you the product before injection. The amount agreed at consultation is the amount injected.
Botox & Filler
Botox & Filler
Botox, hyaluronic acid filler and fat-dissolving injections by a Juvéderm consulting physician.
Is Botox safe for a first-time patient?
Botulinum toxin has decades of safety data and is the most common aesthetic treatment in the world. The dermatologist uses the minimum effective dose placed by your own muscle pattern, so the result is natural rather than frozen.
Botox or filler: what is the difference?
Botox relaxes a muscle (wrinkles from expression, a square jaw); filler adds volume (folds, lips, chin, under-eye hollows). They solve different problems and are often combined.
Korean, Xeomin or Allergan: which should I choose?
All three are approved and effective. Imported brands have the longer international record; Korean toxin is the most economical. The dermatologist advises at consultation and the price difference is published on this site.
What if I do not like the result?
Botox wears off over three to four months. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with Hyalase (₩150,000 per area) within days if needed.
Can I fly home the same day?
Yes. Avoid alcohol, saunas and strenuous exercise for 24 hours, and do not press on treated areas.
Laser, Pigment & Acne
Laser, Pigment & Acne
PicoWay, StarWalker, V-Beam Perfecta, BBL, Potenza and Quadessy for melasma, redness, acne, pores and tattoos.
Why does the clinic scan my skin before choosing a laser?
Pigment, redness and pores look similar from the outside but sit at different depths and have different causes. The Mark-Vu scan shows what is under the surface, so the laser and settings are chosen for your skin rather than by guesswork. The wrong laser can make melasma worse.
Will laser treatment work on my skin tone?
Yes. Picosecond toning, vascular lasers and BBL are used safely across skin types when settings follow the skin-type reading; the dermatologist adjusts energy for darker or tanned skin and may do a test spot first.
How much downtime should I expect?
Toning and V-Beam: none to a day of mild redness. Spot treatment of sun spots: a small scab for five to seven days. Fractional resurfacing: pinkness and flaking for two to four days. You will be told exactly what to expect before you decide.
How many sessions does pigment take?
Freckles and sun spots often improve in one to three sessions. Melasma is controlled rather than cured and needs a programme of ten sessions or more at two-week intervals, plus sun protection. The clinic will tell you honestly if your trip is too short for a melasma programme.
Can acne be treated during one visit to Seoul?
A diagnosis, a first treatment session and a prescription can all happen on one visit. Active acne improves over six to twelve weeks on medication, which can continue at home.
Scar Treatment
Scar Treatment
Combination acne-scar repair, UltraPulse Alpha and UltraClear for acne, surgical and wound scars.
Can acne scars really be improved?
Yes, markedly, though not to perfectly smooth skin. Depressed scars soften and shallow, and the surface evens, over a programme of several sessions. Results differ by scar type, which is why the plan starts with a scar-by-scar examination.
Why combination treatment rather than one laser?
Rolling scars are held down by fibres under the skin; ice-pick scars are narrow and deep; boxcar scars have sharp walls. Each needs a different tool, so one laser applied to everything gives a disappointing result. Subcision, CROSS, collagen injection and matched lasers are combined by scar shape.
How much downtime does scar treatment involve?
Subcision and injection sessions: swelling for three to five days. CO2 laser sessions: redness and fine scabbing for about a week. UltraClear is chosen when you cannot absorb a week of recovery.
I am only in Seoul for a week. Is it worth starting?
Yes. The first session, including subcision, can be done after consultation, and the next session is scheduled around your next visit; sessions are four to eight weeks apart anyway.
Is scar treatment VAT-exempt?
Treatment of a medical condition may be exempt from Korean VAT; cosmetic treatment carries 10%. The quote states which applies.
Hair & Skin Conditions
Hair & Skin Conditions
NovaStem stem cell treatment, hair-loss clinic, laser hair removal, warts and corns, eczema and dermatitis.
Can I see a dermatologist for a skin condition, not a cosmetic treatment?
Yes. All four physicians are medical dermatologists. Eczema, warts, hair loss and other skin conditions are diagnosed and treated here, with prescriptions issued the same day.
Can you prescribe medication for the rest of my trip?
Yes, after consultation, for the length of your stay. Bring a note of any medication you already take.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
It gives long-term reduction after a series of five to eight sessions. Occasional maintenance sessions are usual.
Do I need an appointment for a skin condition?
Message ahead so an English-speaking coordinator and a dermatologist are available; the visit itself is short.
