What it does

UltraClear is a fibre laser operating at 2910 nm, the wavelength most strongly absorbed by water in the skin. Because it ablates with very little residual heat, it addresses texture, pores and shallow scarring with substantially less pain, redness and pigmentation risk than conventional CO2 resurfacing, and recovery is measured in days.

How it is planned here

This laser is selected when texture improvement is the goal but the greater depth of UltraPulse Alpha is not needed, or when a patient's schedule cannot accommodate a full week of downtime. It is commonly paired with Rejuran, delivered into the channels the laser creates.

What to expect

Expect pinkness and light flaking for two to four days. A course typically runs two to four sessions, spaced about a month apart.

Questions

UltraClear or UltraPulse Alpha?

Alpha for depth and thick scars; UltraClear for surface texture and short downtime. Many scar programmes use both at different stages.

Does it hurt?

Noticeably less than CO2; numbing cream is used.

Price?

Quoted at consultation by mode and area.

Can acne scars really be improved?

Yes, markedly, though not to perfectly smooth skin. Depressed scars soften and shallow, and the surface evens, over a programme of several sessions. Results differ by scar type, which is why the plan starts with a scar-by-scar examination.

Why combination treatment rather than one laser?

Rolling scars are held down by fibres under the skin; ice-pick scars are narrow and deep; boxcar scars have sharp walls. Each needs a different tool, so one laser applied to everything gives a disappointing result. Subcision, CROSS, collagen injection and matched lasers are combined by scar shape.

How much downtime does scar treatment involve?

Subcision and injection sessions: swelling for three to five days. CO2 laser sessions: redness and fine scabbing for about a week. UltraClear is chosen when you cannot absorb a week of recovery.

I am only in Seoul for a week. Is it worth starting?

Yes. The first session, including subcision, can be done after consultation, and the next session is scheduled around your next visit; sessions are four to eight weeks apart anyway.

Is scar treatment VAT-exempt?

Treatment of a medical condition may be exempt from Korean VAT; cosmetic treatment carries 10%. The quote states which applies.
