Dr. Byoungyong Koh, Medical Director of The Heal Dermatology Clinic Dongdaemun, is a board-certified dermatologist (피부과 전문의) who also lectures to fellow dermatologists on the devices and injectables he uses in daily practice. Six years of medical school
And the Korean national medical licence. This is where most aesthetic practitioners stop; a 'skin clinic' run by a general practitioner is legal in Korea but is not a dermatologist's practice.
Internship and dermatology residency
A one-year internship, then three to four years of hospital-based dermatology residency: medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology, pathology, lasers and complications.
The specialist examination
The national dermatology board examination. About 2% of Korean doctors hold the title 피부과 전문의; only they may call a clinic a 피부과 (dermatology clinic).
