What it does
Ultherapy Prime is a high-intensity focused ultrasound platform. Much as a magnifying glass concentrates sunlight onto a single point, it directs ultrasound energy to a chosen depth, reaching the SMAS layer that a surgeon would otherwise reposition during a facelift, while the skin surface itself is left almost untouched. The Prime generation represents the first major upgrade to the device in nine years, bringing higher-resolution imaging, reduced noise, and visualization down to 8 mm, so the physician can assess fat thickness and the position of the fascia before placing each line of energy.
How it is planned here
The same equipment can produce different outcomes depending on who operates it. Before any shot is delivered, the dermatologist carries out Face Mapping, analyzing the degree of ageing, the thickness of the fat layer, and the location of the fascia, then marking which areas to focus on and which to avoid. Three transducer depths are distributed across the face by area, and the total shot count is determined together with the patient at consultation. Only genuine tips are used, verified by the AMPLIFY II mark on the device, with a Merz genuine-tip certificate issued after treatment.
What to expect
Any mild redness or swelling resolves within hours, and there is no downtime afterward. An early tightening effect is often noticeable, but the collagen remodelling responsible for the lift continues to build over two to three months, and a treatment tailored to the individual typically holds for a year or longer. When the dermis also requires tightening, Ultherapy is paired with Thermage FLX within the Meta-Vu Design Lifting programme.

Ultherapy or Thermage?
Ultherapy lifts by working on the SMAS with ultrasound; Thermage tightens by remodelling collagen in the dermis with radiofrequency. Many faces need one, some need both. The dermatologist decides at consultation after the Meta-Vu scan.
Does it hurt?
Topical numbing cream is standard and pre- and post-treatment soothing care is included. Deeper lines are felt as brief heat; most patients manage without sedation.
How do I know the tips are genuine?
Ask to see the AMPLIFY II certification mark on the unit before treatment, and the Merz genuine-tip certificate afterwards. Dr. Koh has completed the Thermage FLX Master Course and consults for several device makers; the clinic does not use regenerated tips.
I have never had a lifting treatment. Where do I start?
With a consultation and a 3D Meta-Vu scan, not with a device. The dermatologist shows you on screen where your face has lost volume and where the skin has loosened, then explains which single treatment, if any, would change what you see. Many first-time patients leave with one treatment, not a package.
Does lifting hurt, and will I look different the next day?
Numbing cream is applied for 20 to 30 minutes first. Ultrasound treatments feel like brief deep heat; radiofrequency feels like warm pulses. Most patients go to dinner the same evening with no visible sign of treatment. Any mild redness is gone within hours.
How long before I see a result, and how long does it last?
Some tightening is visible early, but the main result builds as new collagen forms over two to three months. One treatment typically holds for a year or more, after which it is repeated as the face requires.
Can I do it on the day of my consultation?
Yes for Ultherapy, Thermage, Sofwave, Xerf and ONDA. Allow about two hours including the scan, numbing and treatment.
What does it cost?
Prices are published on this site in Korean won and depend on the shot count, which is decided from the scan. Ultherapy Prime starts at ₩450,000 per 100 shots and Thermage FLX at ₩1,450,000 per 300 shots. Cosmetic treatment carries 10% VAT.
