Who it suits

  • Volume loss in the temples, cheeks or jawlineSculptra's particles are the largest in its class, giving it the strongest collagen-stimulating effect among PLLA products.
  • Those who prefer to avoid filler altogetherThe added volume comes from the patient's own collagen rather than an injected gel.
  • Broader signs of facial ageing typically seen in the 40s and 50sOften used as a foundation treatment alongside a lifting procedure.

What it does

Sculptra works by stimulating the body's own collagen production, using poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) particles — it was the first PLLA product of its type to receive US FDA approval. Because its particles are the largest in its category, the collagen and volumising response it triggers is the strongest among PLLA-based options. Importantly, no external volume is added directly — everything that fills in over the following months is new collagen the patient's own body has produced.

How it is planned here

Treatment planning begins with the Meta-Vu 3D scan, which maps where volume has been lost, before the vials are allocated across regions — typically the temples, cheeks, pre-jowl area and jawline. The product is reconstituted well ahead of the session, placed into the deep subcutaneous plane, and massaged afterward. Because PLLA behaves differently over time than Botox or filler, the dermatologist plans around that longer, gradual timeline rather than an immediate result.

What to expect

Expect swelling for a few days, along with a requirement to massage the treated area five times daily for five days. Volume builds gradually over six to twelve weeks, with a typical course of two to three sessions followed by maintenance every one to two years.

Questions

Sculptra or filler?

Filler gives instant volume for six to eighteen months; Sculptra grows volume over months and lasts longer, with a more natural texture.

Is there a lump risk?

Low when reconstitution, placement and massage are done properly. The clinic uses authenticated originals and standard protocols.

Sculptra or AestheFill?

Both are polylactic acid stimulators. Sculptra has the longest record and the strongest volumising; AestheFill's porous PDLLA spheres give a smoother, slightly faster response at a lower price.

What is a skin booster, in plain terms?

A series of tiny injections just under the skin that improve its quality: hydration, smoothness, firmness, pores. It is not a filler, so it does not change your shape; it changes how the skin itself looks and feels.

Which booster is right for me?

That is decided by zone from the Mark-Vu skin analysis, not by brand. Thin, dehydrated skin needs a repair booster such as Rejuran; pores and texture need a collagen stimulator such as Juvelook; deflated areas need a volume stimulator such as Sculptra. Many plans use two products in different zones.

Will people be able to tell I had something done?

Small bumps at the injection points are visible for one to three days and are easily covered with makeup. There is no change in your features.

How many sessions do I need?

Hydrating boosters: three sessions a month apart, then maintenance twice a year. Collagen stimulators: two to three sessions, with the result building over two to three months. A single session still gives a visible improvement.

Is the product genuine?

Yes. The clinic uses only authenticated original vials and shows you the product before injection. The amount agreed at consultation is the amount injected.
