  • Developed the brush scar sculpting techniqueRather than ablating the surface evenly, this scanning pattern sculpts the edges of the scar itself; it was presented at the SCAAR FREE symposium and is taught to other dermatologists.
  • Board-certified dermatologist performs every passThe settings, depth, and density of every pass are chosen and delivered by the dermatologist personally, rather than by a technician.
  • Also UltraClear and Azure CO2The cold-fibre 2910 nm UltraClear is used for texture work with a shorter recovery, while a separate ultrapulse CO2 handles moles, warts, and pinhole scar techniques, so the CO2 tool is matched to each individual lesion.

Selection criteria and method

01

What fractional CO2 treats

Acne scars (with subcision), surgical and traumatic scars, stretch marks, deep wrinkles, and resurfacing of sun-damaged skin.

02

DeepFX and SCAAR FX

DeepFX for fractional columns in scars and wrinkles; SCAAR FX for deep, thick scars with energy reaching up to 4 mm.

03

Brush scar sculpting

Dr. Koh's technique: brushing the scanner across the scar shoulder to blend edges, which is where most visible improvement in atrophic scars comes from.

04

Downtime and timing

Redness and crusting for five to seven days; sun protection for a month. Plan it early in a trip to Seoul, or on the last days if you can keep out of the sun.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is fractional CO2 safe for Asian skin?

Yes when settings are chosen for Fitzpatrick III–IV skin, which is the dermatologist's daily work here; post-inflammatory pigmentation is minimised with density control, cooling and sun protection.

How long is the downtime?

Five to seven days of redness and fine crusting for a full-face DeepFX treatment; scar-only treatments heal faster. Make-up from about day five.

How many sessions?

Scars: three to five, six to eight weeks apart. Resurfacing: one to two. Results continue to improve for three to six months.

Can I combine it with subcision or injections?

Yes, and for acne scars it is the standard approach here: subcision for tethered scars, then fractional CO2, with collagen injections where volume is missing.
